Now, onto my response:


That article putting keto in comparison to other diets last is laughable, at best.

I couldn’t get past the first 3 paragraphs bc they were already dead wrong about it from jump street. They mentioned that you have to eat a whole bunch of protein. Naw, playa — keto is low carb, high fat, MODERATE protein. Keto being high protein is a huge misconception. They also mentioned that we deal with fatigue. Naw, playa — if you do your due diligence and read up before you dive in, you’ll know you’re supposed to make sure you’re upping your electrolytes, bc with the lack of carbohydrates, your body flushes them out. So as long as you’re on top of that, you can skip that step of feeling like crap when transitioning. After that, it’s smooth sailing.

The biggest misconception is that keto is a “weight loss” diet. It’s not. It was never a weight loss diet. It’s about changing how your body makes and utilizes fuel by manipulating what you eat. The end results are better mental clarity, no dips in energy, no more cravings, and you’re just not always hungry. This also frees you from being a slave to food. You’re no longer tied to needing to eat every 2-3 hours to feel better.

If you’re using ANY DIET for weight loss, the majority of the time, it’ll come down to energy balance. Of course, factors like genetics and hormones come into play, but guess what diet actually helps with gene expression and hormone balance? Yeah, playa — it’s keto!

The biggest problem people have is that they are a slave to habits. So even if cravings are gone, some people will force themselves to eat or eat things at their own detriment because they’ve been conditioned to do so, even if their body has already said, “Naw, homie — I don’t really want that.” For example, 9 times out of 10, I skip breakfast. And when some people hear that, they make a huge fuss about it as if their world will end if they don’t eat breakfast. When I say “huge fuss”, I’m talking fanatical ranting. But hasn’t there been a time in your life where you woke up and your day was so busy from the get-go dealing with life (work, kids, pets, errands, or even hobbies) that time just slipped by and you just forgot to eat.


F’real– 👏🏽 DID 👏🏽 YOU 👏🏽 DIE?!?

Some people who try keto will experience the initial flushing of water weight and fall in love with the thought of how much “weight” they lost, but don’t realize it’s a reaction to the absence of carbs and pretty much just water. They’ll do fine for a while, THEN they’ll reach a plateau, probably bc they’re probably still taking in more calories than they’re burning bc they’re forcing themselves to eat meals even when they’re not hungry due to pre-programmed habits.

We’re so conditioned to follow the three square meals a day idea, that any (on purpose) deviation seems sacrilege. But if life happens and you end up skipping a meal, you just eat when you can; world still in tact.

Honestly, any diet will “work”, you just have to find one that you can stick to. Adherence is key, but you have to set yourself up for success. Keto isn’t for everyone, but before you discredit it bc YOU didn’t do enough research on how to set yourself up for success, realize that puts failure in your own hands. #SorryNotSorry #ResearchSpeaksForItself

As for me… I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again— I feel bad for people who hate their “diet”. I never feel like I’m missing out. You could be eating a cheeseburger or piece of cake in front of me, and that shit has a zero effect on me bc at the end of the day, what you eat don’t make me shit. Keto food is delicious. 💃🏽

LCHF and Type 2 Diabetes

Why Low Carb High Fat?

For me, I use the LCHF diet to control my blood sugar because I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Why am I spreading information about LCHF? Because there are a lot of people out there who are Type 2 Diabetics and I want them to know they can control and reverse this disease. It is a DIETARY disease! How do fix or cure a dietary disease? Through DIET (and of course exercise)!!

First let me break down food. Food, regardless of what kind, how healthy or unhealthy you perceive it to be, breaks down into 3 main macronutrients— protein, carbs, and fat. When you consume food, it takes it and processes it down to those macronutrients and utilizes them accordingly within your body. Protein is broken down and used to rebuild; carbs are broken down and used in the body as energy; fat can also be used as energy, but it also helps regulate hormones.

Now let me offer an explanation of how the body processes carbohydrates: When you take in carbs, your body converts them into simple sugars or glucose which is absorbed in the bloodstream. When your blood sugar levels increase, your body signals your pancreas to create insulin to help shuttle that glucose into the cells of your body for energy.

This is a weird analogy, but think of it this way. There’s an exclusive invitation-only venue/bar/club that everyone wants to go to. Think of that as a cell inside your body. The people who want in are glucose. Some people know a VIP who can get them in. The VIP is insulin. At the entrance of the venue is a bouncer, he’s the Insulin Receptor. This is how it goes down. The people get to the club, the VIP shows up, he talks to the bouncer, and lets the people in. Everything is copacetic. Everything is energetic.

Here’s where it things get hairy. More and more people want to get in, but the venue is full; It’s so full that the VIP can’t get anyone else in anymore, so there’s just huge crowd of people waiting outside. As more people show up, more VIPs show up. And now you have high blood sugar and increased insulin. And as time goes on and this cycle keeps happening, you become insulin resistant, meaning the bouncers ain’t even tryin’ to talk to no VIPs no mo’. Access: DENIED!

So what do you do? If this has been a prolonged issue and you have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, then most likely your doctor will put you on medication that lowers your blood sugar. Let me tell you that medication is only treating the symptom and not the disease. The high blood sugar is a symptom of Diabetes, which is caused by the amount of carbs and sugar you put in your body.

One doctor described like this: if you have an upper respiratory infection and you get a fever. Then you go to the doc, and they give you Tylenol. That Tylenol is only addressing the fever. Yeah, you may feel good for a little while, but you STILL have an infection! That medicine may lower your blood sugar, but you still have Diabetes, and as your body gets used to the medicine, you’ll need to take more and more. Your blood sugar may be in control for a bit, but your Diabetes gets worse and worse, and that’s where the term “progressive disease” comes into play. If you allow the disease to progress, you put yourself at risk to things like eyesight loss, amputation, cardiovascular disease, as well as a multitude of other complications.

So what do you do? One alternative— the clearest option I see— get rid of the carbs and sugar. Get on the LCHF diet. But you’re probably like WHY HIGH FAT? In a perfect world, you should be eating just enough protein to help rebuild, just enough carbs to supply you with the energy you need, and just enough fat to keep your hormones in check. But the average person does not track or account for their macronutrients and just thinks they’re eating healthy by eating “healthy” foods. But what IS healthy? Is it nutrient-dense foods like vegetables? Yes, of course. Is it low-fat food? Not necessarily. Most foods labeled as “Low-Fat” are loaded with sugar and carbs. Remember: your body, regardless of what types of foods you put in it, will end up processing that food into protein, carbs, and fat, and utilizing those macronutrients accordingly.

The key is finding the right balance of macronutrients for your body. When you decrease one, you have to compensate with another. But you have to learn what your body does with what you put in it. And that’s all up to you.

Let’s go back to the club analogy. What are all those people gonna do now that they can’t get into the club? Well, since there are so many people and so many VIPs, those VIPs are going take the people to another place for the time being and promise them a good time later on. What does this mean? The VIPs are insulin, which is a hormone that has a couple different jobs: one job is to shuttle glucose into cells, the other job is to help store fat. So it takes all that extra glucose and stores it as fat in the hopes that one day you’ll use that fat for energy. Sadly, for most people, that doesn’t happen. It just gets stored there and builds up in areas like your gut, thighs, hips, etc…

How can we be the most fat-fearing, fat-phobic nation, but at the same time, be the fattest nation? Because it isn’t necessarily the fat you eat that makes you fat. Now I’m in no way wanting to use this platform to demonize or vilify carbs. If you can eat carbs and your body can process them like it should, more power to you! I’m actually very #PeanutButterandJealous!! But what I want to do is let people know that when it comes to your health, it’s about the decisions you make.

I met a guy at work in the snack area. I was looking at the nutrition label of a protein drink, and he came up asking, “Hey, man why are you even looking at that crap?”. I told him that I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and that I was watching my carb intake. He then replied, “I’ve been a diabetic for years! I’ve already lost a couple toes along the way, but you don’t see me looking at that crap! I eat what I want when I want!”

It’s all about the decisions you make.

Insulin resistance, Type 2 Diabetes, weight gain and/or obesity can all be addressed and helped by the LCHF diet. I’ll end this by saying within one week of switching to LCHF, I was able to get off of medication and my blood sugar normalized. Within 2 weeks, I went went from stage 2 hypertension to absolutely normal blood pressure. I felt like a completely different person. The information is out there. The studies are out there. Do your research, make your own conclusions, but at the end of the day, it’s all about the decision you make.
